Being a teenager in the 80s wasn’t ALL bad (just MOSTLY), thanks in great part to all the britfilms that suddenly decided that gay+historical oxbridge/60s playwrights/launderettes (delete as applicable oh wait they’re ALL applicable) was the way to go. YAY. Subtext? We don’t need it. We got text.
I know Rupert Everett is not very good (bless) but OH how I loved Another Country. And OH OH OH how I loved Colin Firth as the atheist bolshevik bespectacled Judd. I went very hipster when P&P happened, clumping around going I’ve loved him for ten years! Have you people never seen Tumbledown?
Cambridge Spies is MUCH better overall (Tom Hollander! Everyone else!) but this will always hold a special place in my heart. I’m not going to pretend anymore! I’m sick of pretending!  You go, Rupe.

The Road To Wigan Pie: Richard IIIs what I have seen: another poorly remembered list -

idlesuperstar:

I am going to see Richard III this weekend (you’ve got to love this whole World Shakespeare Festival thing) and it struck me that for some reason, it’s the play I have seen most often after Hamlet. Hamlet I’ve seen so much because it’s one of my favourite plays. Rich, not so much, but it does…

Another epic list.  Isn’t that Brian Blessed?  Who is also in Black Adder!  Since I haven’t watched Horrible Histories I have to get my Richard III from BA.  Peter Cook made an excellent Richard.
